If one more kid tells me that he pays his tuition, so he has a right to know why he didn't get Talent Scholarship X (because of course he KNOWS he's much more talented than the guy who actually got it) I am going to scream.Jesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11519875774922900379noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2883226237165701608.post-9566389222284626412011-02-21T13:24:04.946-05:002011-02-21T13:24:04.946-05:00Oooh, the gym membership one is even better!Oooh, the gym membership one is even better!Chloe CommProfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17292340580439806650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2883226237165701608.post-77838776912330473282011-02-21T09:10:55.661-05:002011-02-21T09:10:55.661-05:00I use the gym membership analogy that JaneB uses. ...I use the gym membership analogy that JaneB uses. I say that tuition is a gym membership that pays for the latest equipment (my lesson plans, me keeping up to date with my field, the classroom equipment, etc.), and it's my responsibility to keep that equipment in top shape. But it's their responsibility to actually use the equipment in order to accomplish their goals.Allisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12865653248309423843noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2883226237165701608.post-23109523489412682452011-02-21T03:18:34.561-05:002011-02-21T03:18:34.561-05:00Hate #1 - it's like buying a gym membership. ...Hate #1 - it's like buying a gym membership. Even if you are, our fair state is paying by far the majority of what it costs to educate a student, and it's not in the state's interest that this be done without the students learning a lot.

Hate #2: Do your worst, I have tenure!

Hate #3: Do your worst, my bossesAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2883226237165701608.post-86633738240174765352011-02-20T23:37:36.258-05:002011-02-20T23:37:36.258-05:00I also do it for the summers.
