She was thankful when I showed her the exam schedule and told her that the flakey prof couldn't require her to take an exam at a different time than scheduled. Every semester our dean sends out a note to the faculty reminding us to stick to the schedule, but I think the students need to be told what's okay, too. And in the case of conflicting exams, I'd say that the class used to coming to that room gets priority. Making it to the exam, as scheduled, is a pretty basic proffie duty.
