Here's how to put in a "jump" tag

First write a short, punchy, engaging first paragraph, full of pith and humour and wit and gentle wisdom, intimating the subject of the rest of the post.

Then click the "jump tag", right here:

A line will appear.  Everything under it will not appear on the front page of the blog.  When you publish the post, a "read more" link (like the one below) will take the place of the line .

  1. Dude, I don't have the same menu you have. No "jump tag" in mine. Any ideas why that might be?

  2. Also, as an FYI....the full post still appears in the RSS feed, which I kinda like.

  3. If you look at that window, there are 2 tabs in the top right corner - one says "edit html" and the other says "compose". Click on "compose". If you click on "Edit html" you don't get any of the formatting stuff.

  4. I already tried that. Still don't have the same options you do. Do you have higher-level admin privileges, perhaps?

Here's a link to a screenshot of what I see:

  5. Go to your basic settings in Blogspot. Scroll waaaay down to Global settings. Choose "Updated editor" (that probably lets Google watch over your shoulder while you write). Presto!

  6. @ Suzy - I cannot seem to find that setting. I have gone to the Google help files and they say much the same thing, but I cannot find any toggle for "updated editor". Are only the blog's admins allowed that setting or do they have to toggle something in order for contributors to be able to use it?

Note that the HTML tag that Google says to use (http://www.google.com/support/blogger/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=154172)doesn't work either.
