And suddenly I'm profoundly grateful to be teaching the students I do
I stumbled on this this while procrastinatingsurfing researching something crucial to my work: Teacher's Diary. Despite the tag, the teacher didn't burn out - he's now working with young offenders. Which, I mean, wow.
I couldn't read it all because I started having flashbacks to several classes I taught at Safety School U. People really didn't believe me that some of the college students in my charge acted just like that -- the lack of focus, the lack of writing implements, the inability to calm themselves down, the aggressive behavior and general disrespect for authority, etc. It wasn't as many in a classroom as some of that teacher's students, but get a core group of 3 and bye-bye classroom maintenance.
