A VidShizzle. "Be the Best."

  1. what's so weird is that dead poets society was on cable this morning and my wife was watching it...the cumulative effect of that movie has always been high for me. but single scenes always felt a little contrived. I remember Roger Ebert hating it and taking a good amount of stick for not falling under its charms...but THIS, I think "Be the Best" works on every level!

  2. This video needed a teaching montage with the old Bill Conte song "You're the Best"* in the background, that or a short fight sequence between Porn `Stashe Admin and Doug Lovely featuring Alphaville's "Jet Set" in the grand tradition of Pierre Kirby (the Cinema Snob would approve.)

    * From the original "Karate Kid" movie...Pierre Kirby was the nom du film of a slick, good looking Englishman who acted in a possible baker's dozen of extremely cheap Hong Kong action films in 1988 thanks to Godfrey Ho's "cut and paste" method of taking unfinished Asian movies and splicing white guys into them to break into the slightly racist Austrialian and South American rental markets...more info at www.thecinemasnob.com.

  3. When I started my teaching job over 20 years ago, I sat through 3 weeks of how-to-teach sessions where I saw lots of stuff like that. I scrapped much of it soon after I actually started teaching my courses as it wasn't applicable to the material and, quite simply, it didn't work.
