Big Thirsty: Happens on Thursday, only. Tradition. Legacy. Etc.
Early Thirsty: Monday-Wednesday.
Friday Thirsty: Friday.
Other Thirstys? Save them for one of the other days.
Also, keep an eye on other posts that are scheduled or already posted that day...one Thirsty a day seems like enough.
Or I may not be getting it at all...

Thanks for keeping us honest, Leslie K. Not that I blame the newcomers, but we need some order around here.
ReplyDeleteAn email came in a few weeks ago asking to join CollegeMYSTERY.com.
ReplyDeleteI can't take the pressure of knowing all the Thirstys!!!
ReplyDeleteNo, maybe I can. It's good that there's some structure here. Especially with that horrid orange honeycomb background...or that's not honeycomb...
What is it? Dammit, what is it?
CollegeMystery.com. Now that sounds like fun.
ReplyDeleteCollege Mystery: I know I didn't do all of the assignments or score very well on the ones that I did do, but I just can't figure out how I got a D in the class.
ReplyDeletePrissy Prof, you're reading my email. Just four hours ago I got that exact email from a student.
ReplyDeleteGuilty as charged! (I posted a "Friday Thirsty" or some such). As a newcomer, it took me a long time to figure out that "Thirsty" meant "Thursday" and that it meant someone was asking a question. I still don't know what makes a Thirsty "Big".
ReplyDeleteIt's a little like being the anthropologist new to the island, trying to communicate without accidentally insulting the chief's daughter.
A glossary would be helpful. W.T.'s Chronicle piece* finally explained to me why students are called "snowflakes" here, and I did figure out RTFS on my own, but there are other private jokes and acronyms that are still College Mysteries to me and probably to others.
*I'd add a link if I knew how, but "Post Comment" seems to allow just plain vanilla text.
