post-New Year's Resolution

The resolution to get to bed at 11 pm every night is going well, partly because I've sworn in public (Facebook) that if I do not manage 6 weeks in 7 I will send $100 to Committee to Re-Elect the local right-wing neo-con Bible-thumping woman-and-poor-hater.   Which is why I'm up at 6 am answer student emails, which prompt me to a subordinate resolution:

I swear I will not begin more than 4 emails in 5 with the phrase "As it says in the syllabus and on the website, " ...

AUGH.

  1. My syllabus says that I don't answer emails that asked questions covered in the syllabus/website. Guiltless deleting!

  2. Yep, time to send out a class e-mail saying you will not answer e-mails asking questions covered in the syllabus/website. Cha-ching!

  3. The problem with the second resolution is that it's not really under your control, at least unless and until you take the proactive steps suggested above.

  4. How depressing is it that I have sent emails like this to one of my TAs?

  5. The only way I can get to bed before 11 is what killed Michael Jackson.
