"Flory told police he did not make money off of the website and instead saw it as a hobby, “a safe place for guys to find female prostitutes.”

Prof. wanted prostitution to occur without fear of law enforcement

New Jersey Fairleigh Dickinson University physics professor David Flory thought he had a full-proof operation.
Access to his website, "Southwest Companions," was highly restricted. Officials said only clients that were verified by prostitutes could gain access.
APD Lt. William Roseman said once individuals could log onto the website, they could obtain information about the service.
"Once you became a trusted member you had access to reviews of the girls where they would actually write reviews of the girls they've slept with, what acts they would commit, how much their pricing," Roseman said.
Six months ago, a prostitute working with Flory gave investigators a tip.
Investigators used her help, along with other resources, to get the ball rolling to try to become so called trusted members.

  1. Given what it likely took to get "trusted client" status, I suspect the defense is going to involve entrapment.

  2. 1) let me comment on the obvious: Holy ****

    2) what kind of retardedly redundant business philosophy is that? Who the **** wants their criminal activity to take place under fear of law enforcement? I mean what the ****? Who writes this ****? Are there any journalism professors here? Do you want to cry when you see stuff like this the way I want to cry when someone on cable hawks a cleaning product that is "chemical free"?

    3) the wife is some kind of therapist for people with eating disorders. I wonder what the comorbidity of prostitution and eating disorders is.

  3. "Prof. wanted prostitution to occur without fear of law enforcement"

Boy, it that isn't an evergreen headline...

I wonder if the reviews of hookers were as mean as those at RMP. I wonder if the members bitched at each other like we do here. Is there a resident troll?

  4. I wonder if they had to fill out one of those surveys with ratings from strongly agree to strongly disagree...

    "The girl was well prepared.
The clientele was treated with respect.
I would recommend this girl to other people.
    Overall, this girl was excellent.

Please write any additional comments on the back."

  5. Lol, Anastasia! But don't forget "Speaks clear and understandable English" and "Work required was at an appropriate level".

  6. It's the "wanted prostitution to occur" part of the headline that's set my teeth on edge for hours.

Wanted prostitutes? Wanted to run a prostitution ring? Wanted to facilitate sex for money?

Argh. Journalist does not speak clear and understandable English.

  7. Heh.. Anastasia.

"Made good use of technology in the bedroom."
"I was challenged by this girl."
"Girl returned work promptly." (Wait, what?)

  8. And don't forget these:

"New materials were introduced at an appropriate pace."
"I felt comfortable approaching the girl outside of bed."
"Girl was responsive to my needs and concerns."

  9. "Grading standards were clear and consistently applied" (hmm. . .probably not quite what the "hobbyists" were looking for)

And yes, the headline is an excellent example of awful writing. I suspect the headline writer couldn't quite pin down what was going on, and so had trouble pinning down clear subjects and verbs.

Or (s)he is just lazy, illiterate, or badly overworked.

  10. I was informed of my grades and performance in a timely manner.

I would take this prostitute again.

I expect this prostitute to rate me with a grade of ___.

Overall I have completed how many hours in illegal sexual activities?

  11. Probably won't ask whether the prostitute was easy. That's a given.

  15. Comrade Site Administrator,

Re: my last post. It was a gag, I do not think Froedrick Frankenstien from Fresno is Dave "Dr. Detroit" Flory....it was just that they both have "F"s in their names....and if I was right by zillion to 1 luck, then all I can say is "pimp on, pimp on."

  17. I interpreted Strel's first comment as being endearing, not malicious. But Fab has to make a judgment call sometimes. So that's how it goes. Jesus h, I'm just glad I'm not in charge of this place. It would all go to hell in a handbasket.

  19. Damn, I should have mentioned this story in my post about leisure science. Students would certainly sign up for that field work course.
