How to stop plagiarism

The proposed SOPA bill has one thin, temporary silver lining.  The dumbest of the plagiarists will be frustrated.

Let us know if any of your students use the excuse "but I couldn't read Wikipedia!" when they can't turn in today's essay assignment.

  1. I have had students e-mail me in panic today because Wikipedia is down and they don't know how they'll study for their first assignment without it. I normally try to be patient with them, but since the course is actually *about* Internet usage, my response included a link to the "Let Me Google That For You" page with the input "How to Do Research Without Wikipedia."

The students have to read the entire SOPA and PIPA bills for class next week, I'm expecting a revolt.
