  1. You're got to be shitting me. We killed another moderator already? Good christ.

  2. The RGM writes to say, "Sorry, Fab, but I do not have the time this semester to keep the page going. I hate to leave you with it, but I have had a lot of fun. You were definitely right earlier. There is way more work to it than it looks. I feel like a shit. I will lock Barracks D, and put my key back inside the stuffed otter in the gazebo. But I have to tell you, those mouse traps you left are NOT working."

  3. Well hell! Thanks for your work, RGM. I'm sorry we burned you out already!

I have a suggestion: can we call the next Moderator also the RGM? as a job title? As a way of concealing identity and sex?

    1. Concealed sex can be fun. I like that idea.

  4. I'm a perfect 5 on the Kinsey scale, if that helps.

  5. Well, I guess that explains the skeletal look -- rodents nibbling on you in your sleep will do that. But why the head and not the hands?

In any case, thanks, RGM; I hope whatever misery is keeping you busy this semester is less miserable than RGM misery. And thanks, as always, Fab, for stepping up to the plate.

I also rather like the idea of the RGM being the RGM, whoever (or whatever combination of people) is/are behind the moniker. But that would, admittedly, make it hard to thank people appropriately when they enter or leave the compound.

  6. P.S. See English Doc's #8, above, for a possible solution to the mouse problem; maybe you could borrow the feral cats for a while. Or maybe this is a clue that the compound is actually located in English Doc's building, or English Doc's building is located in the compound? Or maybe it's just a good year for mice.

  7. The "others" scared RGM off.

No, probably not. I don't know why anyone would want to be a moderator. It seems like a job one would get stuck with.

  8. told ya not to build the compound in Oxford! The boredom keeps killing off the mods!

  9. Hey, y'all. Everything is fine here. We've got a ton of email from folks worried about our "high drama." I guess we're going to burn up moderators more quickly than I ever understood at the beginning.

But everything is fine. The page appears to be online. The graphics are blurry. There are ads people hate. The font is too small and too large at the same time. It's a clambake.

  11. Moving the Send Email graphic to the left sidebar produced a lethal backlash among readers, am I right?

    1. Ben, I hate to break it to you, but you might just be the only one seeing this left sidebar. Or maybe I just missed it.

At the moment, I'm not seeing a "send email" graphic at all, which just might be a solution (though I fear it will take some people a while to forget the address).

    2. Ben, people write to tell us they hate the design of the page regardless of what we do.

Our left sidebar experiment was foiled because we weren't happy with the overall widths. Too many of our readers use monitors of 1024 pixels and narrower. Those limits made the 2 sidebar look too cramped.

The email link is supposed to be up.

  12. The new mod has a cakesy face. Is he or she single? And thanks to the old mod for all your tireless (and mostly thankless) efforts on behalf of CM.

      ???????

    2. It was a lame joke about the new moderator being hot. Which he or she isn't, clearly, since the face is a bit skeletal and not at all cakesy (British slang for "good-looking" although sometimes they say "cakey" but I prefer "cakesy").

  13. Sigh.

It's starting to feel like one of these would be a more appropriate avatar for the CM moderator(s): http://www.southparkstuff.com/south_park_images/character_images/kenny_images/

(And thanks, RGM. I raise my glass to you.)
