Felix Gets His Book Back.

No extraordinary details except the book got back to me, delivered by a campus security officer.

The next day Sad Sack Sally showed up at my office, and the following conversation "Hiramed" me (baffled).

"What did I miss while I was gone?"

"What do you mean? You missed 6 classes. I've already dropped you."

"You did? Well I just went to Belize with my parents. I thought my advisor would have told you."

"Your advisor didn't tell me anything, and you should have told me, or better, ASKED."

"Well, I'm back now. Could you add me back in?"

"No, I can't. You've missed 8 classes out of 17 now for the term. You've missed several key assignments."

"I'm sure I can make them up. I have a tutor."

"You have a tutor for this class?"

"No, he's an English tutor, but he's really smart."

"It doesn't matter. You weren't going to pass anyway, tutor or not."

"Well that sucks. I would have come back a day or two earlier from Belize had I known."

"A day or two wouldn't have mattered."

"Is this because you're mad about your book? I gave it to the policeman. You're just mad about the book, but I figured you had lots of books, that's why you lent them out."

"It's not about the book, but that didn't help."

  1. This is why you shouldn't have ad-dropped.

  2. Oy. I'm guessing that the barrier to buying the book herself wasn't cost (my apologies if her parents are, in fact, impoverished aid workers in Belize, but I suspect that's not the case).

P.S. I love the way updating crappy RYS graphics to fit CM makes them even crappier.

    1. Haha! Maybe I could have a go at making a new Playlet graphic. It's sure to be crappy, and I'm sure to appear in it!

  3. Will you LISTEN to the state of this fool's BRAIN? Seemingly ever semester, they get more, and more, and MORE immature. Let this fool work a McJob for a while, to learn the meaning of "responsibility."

  4. Why do so many parents take there kids on lengthy trips in the middle of the semester? I see this all the time on CM - the excuse about a lengthy vacation or some other trip with their parents. What are these parents thinking? Don't they realize their kid cannot miss so much class and still pass?

  5. Belize? Is it nice this time of year? Did you enjoy yourself? Me, well I'm going to Cleveland in May for a week. I'll let you know after that if you passed.

  6. Glad you didn't have to shell out $90 for being a trusting soul (or did you?). What I hate most about these situations is when my colleagues work with the student and then I'm the asshole NOT allowing her to make up work she missed.
