My goal is to make the site an enjoyable, lively place to visit, but as you know, I'm averse to attacks against community members. (It is possible to disagree - even with real fire - without minimizing the experience of others on the site.)
Should comments become too unruly, I will close comments on that thread. I also will set comments to "moderate" only if the situation warrants. That may cause a lag for your comments to appear, but know that I will only do that when absolutely necessary.
Thank you all.
Now, please to - well, you know, it's an old saw, we do it in the manner - enjoy.
Jebus. I'm on the road and offline for a few days and I come back to all this excitement. Ah well, keep up the good fight. It's greatly appreciated - even by cynical bastards like me.
ReplyDeleteRGM, your efforts are greatly appreciated! Have a great rest of your spring break.
ReplyDeleteThis is my experience. Don not minimize it. This includes but is not limited to:
ReplyDelete1. Placing your thumb and index finger on a computer, tablet or phone screen, with those fingers aligned on opposing sides of my experience, then gently bring them together until they touch, all while maintaining contact with the screen.
2. Using a computer mouse, stylus, finger or other pointing device to press the "minimize" button located at the top right corner of an internet web browser.
3. Minimizing my experience by briefly pressing the right-hand button of a two-button mouse or performing keystrokes that allow the selection of "Minimize" from a dropdown menu.
Performance of these actions will result in the RGM reining down all sorts of hell on you. Don't even try, kid. It's not worth the pain.
Look below Ben. RGM says that current correspondents are exempt. Ha, ha, I just did it, you're in the taskbar. Now your back. You're in the taskbar again. Tee hee.
DeleteNow, where's my wife's Kindle Fire?

ReplyDeleteOr, in the immortal words of Kids in the Hall: "I'm crushing your head!"
And for those of you not from the Great White North:

To make it easier, here's the link to DiaMC's URL.
DeleteKids in the Hall rock!
But when I clicked on the link Prof. In A Midnight Choir sent nothing happened, so I couldn't do the assignment...
Delete;)
(Now don't tempt me, or I may post the chicken lady at the mall...)
Thirty Helens agree that the link works in my browser. In fact, Buddy Cole just emailed me saying he's upset I didn't link to one of his monologues.
DeleteI'll contact IT at A.T. & Love to see what's going on.
Loving the new background! Policy looks good. This is the most freewheeling AND polite blog I visit. It's tough to do both.
ReplyDeleteI dislike this policy because I hate waiting to see if my comment went through. Just let the fucking trolls post, then gank what they write. We were doing it before.
ReplyDeleteI hear you, Strel. Many folks don't like the comments appearing at all, and in fact have told me they just skip threads where a troll has already ruined the discussion. CM correspondents bypass comment moderation, by the way.
DeleteIs it me, or did we start having more trouble with trolls when we engaged in the Twitterverse?
ReplyDeleteWhatever the cause, thank you, RGM, from the bottom of my cold, black, burned out little heart-machine--for keeping the assholes at bay.
I wondered about that, too. If so, I hope it's a short-term effect, since twitter does seem to be a good place to get the word out, if not, perhaps, a particularly good place to try to actually interact (or maybe that's just my bias showing).
DeleteSounds like a plan. I'm sorry the trolls (and the complainers about trolls) stole so much of your spring break, RGM. Hope you manage to find some relaxation nonetheless.
