Shut Up And Write

In honor of the start of summer and the chance to actually research and write,

I've been looking for a co-author who's qualified
So if you think that you're the one step up to my side
I'm a fine-tuned supersonic research machine
With a huge database and a gangster CV

Got a story to tell if you know what I mean
Got a narrative that smoother than a limousine
Can you handle the tenses? Are your sources alright?
If you can baby girl then we can write all night

Cos my favorite font is Arial, 11.5
Baby you got the keys-
Now shut up and write
(write, write, write)
Now shut up and write
(write, write, write)

I got class like 2 seminars back 2 back
Read all the test, and got a whole lot of notes in the back
You look like you can handle my thesis, good
You keep saying you’ll edit it, I wish you would

So if you peer review let me know, know, know
Come on now what you waiting for, for, for
My keyboard’s ready to explode, explode, explode
So start me up and watch me go, go, go, go

Cos my favorite font is Arial, 11.5,
Baby you got the keys-
Now shut up and write
(write, write, write)
Now shut up and write
(write, write, write)

  2. I prefer Times New Roman 12 (serif font all the way, baby!), but otherwise, Bravo!

    1. Really?! Judging by your posts I would have pegged you for a Courier. Goes to show you can't judge a writer by hir font. (For me, it's Palatino.)

And a big "well done!" for you, MA&M :)

    2. Times New Roman 12 represent up in here!
      Holla!

    3. @Edna--I'm not *that* old (or that hipsterishly retro -- definitely not that hipsterishly retro)! But my diss *was* (is) in Courier, mostly because I started (and finished) it in Wordstar, and switching to a proportionally-spaced font would have added another week to the 12 or so years I took to finish (I was using Word, and TNR, for other things by then). Okay, maybe I am pretty old. After all, I learned to type on a typewriter (one of my parents' manual portables, but they bought me an electric for 8th-grade graduation).

    4. Actually I like TNR 12 but that didn't work in the lyrics. (I also increase the page size to 125% so I can read it!)

Thanks for the kind words. Writing it was fun and it helped me put off doing work for awhile. 8-)

  3. If you imagine Isaac Hayes singing this, it's pretty hot.

    Nice work MA&M!
