Even Flight Attendants Are Helping Create Snowflakes.

AA Flight Attendant Audio.

Deadspin article.

  1. This makes me hurl. I would have written to AA immediately after this flight to tell them how ridiculously annoying and unprofessional she sounded. I am not a preschooler. I do not want to be spoken to as though I am a preschooler when I have paid the outrageous price for air travel. She needs to find another line of work--or a good therapist.

  2. When I first saw this post, I was thinking of quoting Neil Postman's story in "Amusing Ourselves to Death" about the wisecracking flight crew, as part of Postman's diatribe about how every aspect of society has turned into entertainment. Once I played the flight attendant audio, though, I realized that this is no joking matter. This isn't a case of how, if you hand far too many people a microphone, they immediately think they're comedians. This flight attendant sounds quite genuinely mentally ill, and really needs help. She certainly doesn't inspire confidence, the way people in responsible positions with other peoples' lives in their hands, such as surgeons or---oh, airline flight crews---really ought to do.
