Tread lightly. Many have lovingly rated Bell sporadically over the years.
Let us not press our luck.
See, I think this is inspired. Wasn't the whole idea that started RYS the notion that the reviews on RMP - which, face it, used to seem to mean a lot more than they do now - were completely anonymous, wide-open, and prone to abuse.
ReplyDeleteHow delicious that Martin Bell's page has been up since January 2006!
Looks like he gets around, too, teaching Classics (his original discipline), Philosophy, History, Education, Economics, Astronomy, Math, Basket Weaving, Geology, Anthropology, and PE! Academic whore!
He reminds me of Dr. Benton Quest, Johnny Quest's dad. Dr. Quest had to be the most versatile scientist I've ever seen: one week he was working on lasers, the next week he was developing a missile guidance system, the next week he was doing anthropology in the Amazon since he was one of the few westerners who knew the local language, the next week he was doing undersea research, and the next week Egyptology.
DeleteIn the tradition of mad science, we therefore have only one choice:
We must KILL Martin Bell!
(Mua-ha-HAA!)
Always a chuckle.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful professor. I'm glad to see he continues to get the credit he deserves (while handily demonstrating the complete bankruptcy of RMP).
ReplyDeleteI swear Rate My Professors seems to have jumped the shark years ago. I had a flurry of ratings in 2005-2006, but then almost nothing since. Am I not pissing anyone off?
ReplyDeleteNo, Darla, it's that the little dears have such short attention spans.
DeleteThey're all on Twitter and FB.
