A Suitably Poorly Made and Inconsequential Speedy Rant Graphic...

  2. My speedy rant (which no one will notice because we're all still buzzing about the rape story):

Two weeks ago: It was MY idea. It was something I'd researched and presented to my chair as a good way to increase enrollment in our program, and I asked if I could talk with our faculty about it at our next staff meeting. At our meeting yesterday, I was ready to present this idea and even had notes prepared (which is rare for me)... Ready to be called on by the chair, I opened my mouth, only to hear the chair say, "I've had a great idea for our department. I think we should..." and then presented my idea as HER idea. Everyone praised her for her brilliance and I sat there feeling wounded. SO Not cool.

    1. I had something like that happen too. My version--I was working as an adjunct, and naively proposed a new course to the chair.

With 6 weeks left in the semester, I noticed an ad near the elevator trumpeting the coolness of this new class...being taught by the chair.

I quit at the end of the semester. $1485/class was not nearly enough to put up with that kind of shite.

      You have my empathy.

    2. Thanks, BurntChrome, that totally sucks for you, too! Why do people do shit like that? It's worse than the plagiarism our students claim they don't know they're doing.

    3. Maybe it's a continuation of the same behavior they did at school.
