I Remember in College Seeing a Presentation On Bicycle Safety.

Two sexologists presented sex based workshops to San Diego State students focusing on happier and safer sex, how to play with sex toys and the truth about female orgasms in the Fowler Family Ballroom at SDSU’s Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center.

On Tuesday, Love Campus Tour began its first Southern Californian college tour at SDSU. The Love Campus Tour’s guest speaker, Jill McDevitt, started the event with a presentation on how to have fun and safe sex. In McDevitt’s first workshop, students ranked the risks of different sexual activities; such as dry humping, kissing and oral sex. Students were also given the opportunity to learn how to safely put on a condom.
“You’re actually getting involved with the action rather than just looking at the Powerpoint and trying to remember it later in life,” sophomore Olivia Hill said. “I learned that dry humping is less risky for getting a sexually transmitted disease than kissing is because there’s no mucus membranes involved.”

Sociologist and sex therapist Jennifer Gunsaullus, spoke about the different sex toys available, along with how to use them in erotic play. After the presentation, Gunsaullus said she hopes SDSU students will take away something useful from her presentation.

“The more creative and playful you can be around sex, the more you’re present in the moment and the more fun you have,” Gunsaullus said.

Gunsaullus continued to explain the importance of sexual enjoyment.

“The more you enjoy and appreciate yourself, the more you can connect deeply with a partner which is one of the most beautiful things we can do as humans,” Gunsaullus said.

Love Campus Tour at SDSU concluded with a presentation from McDevitt about the female orgasm. This presentation focused on women who fake orgasms to “get it over with.” It explored two main reasons why women may be unsatisfied with their orgasm, and how they can experience multiple orgasms.

  1. I think the content here might have something to do with things, as opposed to the appeal of 'active learning' on the impact of the lesson.

Alas, there are only so many 'active learning' techniques you can ethically use when teaching sexual education.

  2. Out here in CA, community college teachers have to complete 28 hours of "staff development" activities every year. I've forwarded this article to our Staff Development Coordinator.

Which reminds me of the time at the beginning of the AIDS crisis years ago when admin installed condom dispensers in all the restrooms--both male and female, both staff and students--on campus. Lots of debate, as you might imagine.

One female faculty member was outraged: "What does a condom dispenser in the bathroom say about ME?" she wondered. I thought the best response was "Well, what does it say about you, and all female faculty members, if there were no condom dispensers provided for you all?"

Male faculty members were more blase: "I need a splint, not a condom" was the most-repeated joke.

Good luck getting there before rounding first base though.

    1. My thought when I read that quote was how proud her parents will be if they read it.

    2. If you waited to learn that dry humping is safer than kissing in college, then you're fucked, and not in the safe dry humping kind of way.

    1. Well, at least now I know where to go for my "moist anal lube" and "O-ring gag nipple clamps".

Though calling a 6.5 inch dildo a "whopper" is obviously false advertising.

  9. This is just wrong. The foundation of higher education has always been unsatisfied lust becoming lust for knowledge. Satisfy lust, see academic standards drop.

  10. I know it's too late, but I want to shit-talk SDSU for a bit. I find it amazing that they demolished their late-`60s student center to build a three-story faux-Spanish Colonial building. Why? Because the frigging student government though it would be cool, the students voted on it, and there you go.

Then there is Nasatir and Storm halls. These buildings were built in the late 1950s and for the last couple of years there has been a debate whether or not a ground floor office in Nasatir hall used by grad students has been giving them cancer. After an inconclusive test, the school said "Fuck it" and gutted both buildings, making damn certain to demolish the part which connected the buildings, THE PART WITH THE alleged CANCER-CAUSING OFFICE!

    I call shenanigans.
