So, today a higher-level writing student employed the following phrase in a journal response: "This idea is one that the character should have known right from the gecko."
Little green lizards, whether real or that insufferable insurance shill, make the best malapropisms.
I've often found geckos to be reliable sources of information. Thanks for sharing. Hilarious! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like something Carlos Castaneda would have said.
DeleteGreat malapropism; great image! Thanks!
ReplyDelete@Cassandra: I thought it was a mondegreen. Or was it wrapped up like a douche, another roamer in the light?
DeleteA duck, a gecko, and an alpaca walk into a bar. The duck asks the alpaca to get the douche from the gecko and give it to her, but the duck gets the douche right from the gecko. The rabbi watches the clock, and time flies like an arrow. The arrow kills the duck. Where's the Monkey?
DeleteBubba:
DeleteTime may fly like an arrow but fruit flies like a banana.
I suppose it is a mondegreen rather than an eggcorn, if only because it's difficult to conceive of a way in which the phrasing could make sense.
DeleteWah-LA!
ReplyDeletePerhaps it was the auto-correct feature.
