The professor-as-life coach role makes me uncomfortBle. Maybe because I don't think I'm good at it but still, this is not what I signed up for. Are the students overwhelmed by Intro to Exercise Science or is the professor addressing the stress caused by other classes? Really, how much less difficult is a day of looking a dog pictures than a regular day of a 0-level phys ed class?I admit that I did like the sog rate twitter feed.
"... this is not what I signed up for." Right with you there, Ben. I'm not a counselor, a retention specialist, or a recruiter, either. I do understand that some of what we do requires a little of each of those things -- some of us, anyway -- but the increasingly changing demands of this profession are beginning to wear me out. I am seriously thinking of seeking alternative employment in a few years. Right now, I need the stability of this job and its benefits. In a few years, though, I may be able to escape. I would love to escape.
This was me! I tweeted this! I have been validated!
But, it turns out it wasn't a real lecturer.
Did you just out yourself on CM?
