Student I've seen around campus before comes up to me with his schedule open and says:
"I'm not enrolled in this class, but I've bought the book, so I need to be enrolled."
Okay... well since you've bought the book, allow me (a prof, not an advisor) to put you right in that class. I'm sure it won't matter that all of our classes have been full for weeks!
Customer's always right, right?
ReplyDeleteBut Ivory is right, this kind of logic is in full display in the early days.
We're servants just there to make it happen for them.
I like when they say they HAVE to be let in because they're going to graduate in a YEAR, and they need THIS class RIGHT now at THIS time...otherwise, like, their whole life is ruined.
ReplyDeleteAnd again, this is MY problem?
Take a line from the failed drug war and

If they can't be bothered to find out if the class in full (and most schools now have this online) then they aren't smart enough for the class, even if it's Underwater Basketweaving 101.
"In full" should be "is full", but getting back to the late flakes it's not like it was 20 years ago when crashers had to hang around for two or three classes to see if a spot could be opened - these clods have the internet.
