Things You Cannot Unsee.

A Kennesaw State University part-time instructor was arrested for allegedly exposing himself to students in a classroom.

Raymond Devaughn Taylor, 57, is accused of taking off his clothes during a class he was teaching, according to an arrest warrant obtained by the AJC.

The incident occurred on Nov. 30 between 4:35 and 4:45 p.m., the university police department states in the warrant.

A student in the class reported the incident to school officials Friday, Arlethia Perry-Johnson, vice president of external affairs for the university, told the AJC.

"We took this issue very seriously when the student complaint was registered," Perry-Johnson said Tuesday evening.

Taylor, who worked in the business department on a contract basis, taught an accounting class during the fall semester on Tuesdays and Thursdays, according to the class schedule posted on the university's website.

"He will not be teaching again at KSU," interim Provost Ken Harmon told the AJC.

  1. I need more details. Was he confused and having a break with reality, thinking he was perhaps disrobing to take a bath? Or was there clear intent to bring out the wiener and make some formal introductions? THe picture of the guy makes him look pretty crazed. I feel sorry for him. Contract adjunct guy probably heard one stupid question too many, and the only answer was his bared buns.

  2. A friend who teaches at JMU sent this along...apparently the school newspaper had a more titillating account, but I can't find it at the moment:

  3. I'm with Stella in needing more information. "Exposing himself" suggests one thing, but taking off his clothes? That suggests something else entirely. If he disrobed entirely--or did so in a manner that suggests he wasn't trying to engage in a lewd act--then he's mentally ill and needs help.

The JMU prof also needs help, and she absolutely has my sympathy.

  4. I feel badly for both of them... in both instances, it sounds like something way more complicated than simple...uh...I don't know what...was going on.

  5. If he's a marketing proffie, then maybe he was just demonstrating the old wisdom that "bad press is good press." That would, somehow, justify his actions. Now he'll probably get a job offer to be a crazy naked guy on David Letterman. Great business skills!

  6. Ugh, so sad. The thing about teaching is that it's so public. When that guy got drunk and peed on his credenza on *Mad Men,* there were only a handful of coworkers to see it.
