Following Directions

I get it, students at CC's and open enrollment universities may not always be prepared for the rigors of the classroom. That is why I am here, the guide the little lambs out to pasture and make sure they can graze safetly among the wolves. I even get that in my online classes students who are visual or auditory learners may need additional help for a essay containing several parts, that's fine. What I don't get is when they ask me to fill out their grade form to get into the hamster weaving or basket running program at Podunk University they are physically incapable of 1. Faxing the form to me at the number provided until 3 hours before it is due and 2. Providing the return fax number needed for me to return it to them.

Some of them even insisted I can just "send the grade to them and they will pass it along" Gee, where is the turnip truck I just fell off of?

It makes me want to write "Too Stupid for Your Program" on the form and be done with it.

  1. Please just send us the kids. We need to keep our enrollment up or people will start losing their jobs. We'll sort out which students are qualified in a few years, once they're juniors.
