Teaching Is Like Sex . . . Who knew?

In the midst of all the discussion of the Rappaport story, we seem to have missed the following video, which was linked at the bottom of that story. For shame!

  1. I don't have a problem with the "teaching is like sex" metaphor- I just don't think she did a good job of making it interesting or illuminating. "It's fun at first, but then you do it again and again and it becomes routine..." so what? yawn.

  2. If everyone with a "checkered past" were prevented from teaching, there would be very few teachers, I think. I'm more concerned with how vapid this chick was. I don't care if a teacher used to be a prostitute but I surely do care if she's stupid and boring.

  3. I am a failed phone-sex operator. I couldn't get through the scripts without giggling uproariously. For a while I was a radio DJ, so I have the voice for it, but all that discussion of 'throbbing man meat' was just too much to keep a straight face...

The vocal control has served me well in teaching, though.
