I.
sunlight, you mock me
with your brightness. my students
share none of your shine.
II.
adminiflake, you
mock me with your breathing. you
share none of my shine.
III.
when the woodpecker
knocks, he seeks sustenance. with
snowflakes, not so much.
IV.
scattered birdseed on
the cold ground contains more life
than these essay do.
I'd be happy to get an essay mocking itself. Those are fun to read.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this beauty today. I'm about to venture into essay land and am scared that I will encounter scattered birdseed.
III is fantastic...when's the College Misery / Yaro / Greta book coming out?
ReplyDeleteHi Contemplative Cynic and Darla. CC, I hope the essays are better than scattered birdseed.
ReplyDeleteSigh. I do miss Yaro.
Sadly, Greta, I suspect I'll get what comes out after birds digest the seeds! But thanks for this haiku! :)
DeleteI hope Yaro is cozy and warm, and having the best days ever.
ReplyDeleteI thought of this today when in my reading (Gasp!), I came across the word "jejune." It having been a while since I took the SAT, I looked it up (Gasp!!)---you know, in a dictionary. (GASP!!!)
ReplyDeleteOK, I don't want to alarm anyone. I confess made up the part about the dictionary: I used Siri. But the rest really happened, I promise.
Nice! I especially like the adminiflake, and the woodpecker (and the birdseed. Okay, I especially like the whole haiku cycle).
