Oberlin, Amirite?

  1. I imagine this future scenario:

"Grandpa, why did you spend your career slinging hash for minimum wage?"

"I was in college and decided to protest instead of writing my exams. Those meanies in charge there wouldn't change my grades or give me deadline extensions because of that. As a result, I couldn't graduate and, so, slinging hash was the only job I could find."

"Oh, but grandpa, when you went to college, weren't you supposed to study and learn something? You could have protested after your exams were over or after you graduated, couldn't you?"

One of these days, those same students are going to learn the true meaning of TANSTAAFL.

  3. With apologies to Reinhold Niebuhr:
Grant me the serenity to accept the students I cannot change,
The courage to change the students I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
