Free Photo Editing Stuff. Because I Heart Proving Meanie Prof Wrong.

In response to the CM MANIFESTO, the otherwise infallible Meanest Professor Ever sez, "Not everyone has access to photo alteration technology."

A-hem.

Allow me to present: a buttload of free online photo editors.

So, will you use your newfound powers for good, or for awesome? (I hope the answer is for awesome.)

p.s. If you have a penchant for crappy graphics (like the crappy brown now being used for the site--what the hell???), I hope you will consider glitter graphics. Yeah, now that's class!

  1. There's also GIMP, which is similar to Photoshop but free. I use that because I'm not quite artsy enough to pay out the ass for PS, but just artsy enough to need software.

  2. Not only that, but there is totally free slidecasting, free video and audio recording/editing software, free photo hosting, free tools like wikis...the list goes on. Encourage your students to use AdBlock to avoid seeing the ads that littler most free sites.

  3. I'm sorry about the graphics. I don't know a great deal about them and I'm doing my best.

  4. Fab Sun, actually, I think your graphics are great. This afternoon's poopy brown was...different. ;)

If the site gets too slick, it'll lose its air of "we don't REALLY care," which is appropriate at a site about misery.

That said, if you have something specific you need help with, email me. In addition to a well-used snark rifle, I have mad design skillz. (And Photoshop.)

  5. Yo Snark - consider me a total coding moron (although I can seriously rock a FACS). Can you tell me in "freshman-college-student-level" terms how to do embedded links?? Wait...I can speak above grunting...make that sophmore/junior-level terms...

Or if you don't know, can anyone else help a chica out?

  6. Hi Beth, you just need a little HTML salt. You need to enter in an anchor link:

<a href="http://www.nytimes.com/">This is what will be underlined </a>

This looks like this when it is published: This is what will be underlined

  7. Beth, if you're asking about how to do it in a Blogger post: Type your normal text. Mark what text you want to be linked. Select the Blogger icon that looks like a planet with an infinity sign for a hat. An http:// box will pop up. Put the web address in there.

  8. Mike & Suzy: Thanks!!

So, um, I learned my 1 thing for today. Can I have a margarita and take a nap now?

  9. I'll take one, too. On the rocks, with salt.
