During the latter part of the dissertation-writing process, I kept a cartoon on my refrigerator that depicted a little shack with the sign "Phil's Philosophy and Bait Shop," and one local outside commenting to the other, "I always wondered what you did with one of them degrees." I think I'd prefer that option; the average customer would be more taciturn (though there is the issue of fish stories).
