  2. Ohhhh! So if I want to make the sentence active, I just add 'movement' to it (preferably of the 'doggie' kind):

    Active: "The rope was being pulled by two dogs." RIGHT?

  3. This is so absolutely ridiculous from a linguistic point of view that I want to scream. The inability to distinguish the semantic role of "agent" from the syntactic function of "subject" ought to preclude the writer from saying anything, anytime, anywhere about sentences.
