I'm not sure my link causes any minds to be boggled. It just provides fodder for her supporters. Now, both sides can find something to cheer about and reinforce their own opinions and biases. And really, isn't that what we really want out of these stories?
I found this posted on Yahoo by a person named "sam" and just want to share it.
Listen my children and you shall hear Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere, To warn the Brits, or what? Oh, dear I cannot think, it’s not quite clear…
I have it now! And I will tell: He rode, he shot, he rang the bell, He told the Brits to go to hell Defiant, proud and shooting swell.
Through the country dark he road Through fair New Hampshire, so we’re told, Through field and street, he was right bold His rifle clutched, a vise-like hold.
“We armed, we’re armed!” he shouted wide, He rang that bell as he did ride, He shot the dark from side to side, Uh, wait, I think that, uh, I lied
Judge Strelnikov: She gets fifty (50) years in a Siberian gulag for fucking up basic American history.
Prosecutor Aaronovitch: Would it not be better to shoot her, and save us the time?
Judge Strelnikov: Yes, but the American people are a collection of whining, sniveling, weak-willed, cocksucking, motherfucking bitches who think jail is better than death, because they truly fear the grave. So work the fat off her bones and out of her head. Court adjourned.
[A gagged and bound Palin is dragged kicking and "screaming" out of the room]

No Ben, actually not. I'm not looking for a battle of nattering naybobs of nonsense.
What I found mindboggling is the pretzel-like contortionism being employed by the Palinistas.
If I hear the three year old Obama 57 states "retort" one more time, I am going to whip an atlas at someone's head! (And, to play the Palinista game of "but she really meant something truthful but too obscure for mere education folk to know," there actually ARE 57 American jurisdictions -- states, territories, and federal districts.)
But the point is that Obama meant to say 47 states (actual states visited) and HE CORRECTED HIMSELF the next day.
When has Palin EVER corrected one of her nearly daily factual missteps?
Reminds me of the student who tried to foist off her utterly substandard and PLAGIARIZED work by blaming me for not returning her work fast enough. How many times do they have to be told that cutting-and-pasting is not acceptable?
Well according to Zimmerman, nobody who posts here really appreciates teaching, either.
Wanderer, that's lovely: thanks for sharing.
Suzy, she's got a BA. Transferred 5 times to get it, including part of a semester (literally couldn't hack a full semester) at a former employer of mine which, at the time, had just transitioned from 2-year to 4-year.
@Suzy: Palin went to SEVERAL universities. I read a story about it which tried to spin this as some kind of deliberate choice to be well-rounded, but it was a pretty clear description of a flake who was unprepared for college.
Disclaimer 1: politically, I am an independent moderate. What this means is that I have cut myself out of any meaningful voting activities in a state dominated by a single party...where primary elections are everything and voters must decide long in advance what side they'd like to make primary contributions for. On the other hand, it also means I get pleas for contributions (and glossy pictures of candidates) from BOTH parties at election time.
Disclaimer 2: I am fortunate to teach in a discipline where I can mostly be apolitical in the classroom. But sometimes you have to use ANY teachable moment...and the painfully anti-intellectual Ms. Palin has provided many of them.
The fact that she lacks any substance doesn't bother me. The fact that she is rabidly embraced by many gives me a more uncomfortable feeling. During the 2008 campaign, I was able to use some of her struggles with facts as one of those teachable moments.
The story just gets better and better.

Aww ... c'mon people ...
ReplyDeleteShe deserves an "A" for effort.
She tried REEEEEALLY hard.
The sun was in her eyes.
The bus got a flat ...
Oh, hell, you know the drill...
(But trying to follow the apologists at BB's link is just mindboggling.)
Words escape me. Does she even have a high school education? Has anyone checked?
ReplyDeleteIt's the mainstream media's fault.
ReplyDeleteTrust her.

She must have been high.
