R.I.P. Heavy D (1967–2011)

a.k.a. "The Yaro of hip hop."
A generally more positive influence in that genre.
Some would say he was tame.
But I just liked him.
Especially in The Cider House Rules.

  3. I saw Heavy D about 20 years ago. He was one of the more joyful, rather than angry, rappers. So he and Yaro synchronized in my mind when I saw them both in the browser at the same time. It's not a competition; they can both be liked. And are. By me, anyway.

    {shrug}

    I've actually seen one of them in real life.

    Part of the coolness of Yaro is that he is, no doubt, joyfully unperturbed by a hip hop obit following his post. I can even imagine him downloading a Heavy D song for his iPod playlist with "the Bruno Mars."

    Amen.
