  2. I get a little annoyed when students refer to me and other faculty as teachers, instead of professors but this video makes me want to be in that camp.

  3. I consider myself a "teacher" and come from a family of teachers (from grade 1 through high school) so I love, love, love this...

  4. How I wish I had the nerve to post the link on my web page!

  5. I confess that this has brought me some joy in an otherwise joy-devoid week.

    1. I want to post it to FB, too. But many of my friends there are sickeningly happy in their teaching day jobs and I'm sure they'd raise their eyebrows at me. It cracked my shit up, though!

    2. Yes that's my problem too.

Though I wonder, what does it say about me that one of my former students (one of the best students I've had in 16+ years of teaching) sent the video to me because it reminded him of me... *sigh*

  7. They want to get rid of the fat kids? Good! I have openings in my Siberian labor camp system. Ballbustingly backbreaking labor should cure the children of that "fat" thing, just as it will cure all the Republicans and libertarians of their "stupid" problem.

  9. This is brilliant. I DID post it, and emailed it to a handful of teacher friends.

  10. I agree ... this encapsulates a deep seeded frustration percolating within most of us.

But as Bill Maher says about current partisans, inside their "bubble" there are many who would believe this satire as real.

As someone who has taught 7 - 12, undergrad, and graduate levels AND has been a parent "fly on the wall" listening to other parents gripe about the "cherry" job teachers have while bitching about how the teacher can't get the kid to read at grade level or assign things the kid wants to do, etc. ... they really believe we putting together a video like this is what we do in the palatial teachers' room.

Not to go Grammar Nazi, but it's "deep-seated."

The Republican Party right now is like a monster truck at a tractor pull; the engine is at the redline trying to drag the dead weight through the mud, tires frothing the slop madly, and the whole rig is barely moving at all. Watch the motor blow in a year.
