Moniker Reminder.

This morning someone posted a number of comments (some on posts that appeared months ago) under a user name that belongs to another community member.

I was unable to reach this person via his/her log in address (the mail came back undeliverable), so I have taken down the comments. (The IP address did not match the other member.)

One of the misery rules reads: "Do not impersonate another CM community member. Do not post under multiple monikers or logins. Do not post anonymously or with "non-names" like Nobody, No One, Anonymous Prof, etc."

This may have been inadvertent, so please contact me if you have any questions.

There are tons of perfectly good monikers that can be used by anyone wishing to join our community. Here are some, including a couple that we fondly think of as old school "RYS-style" names:

  • Griffin from Greeley
  • Mimi from Muscle Shoals
  • King of Fractions
  • Ding Dong Dean
  • Shabba Doo

  1. Why's he running, Fab?

Because he tangles with the regulars.

He didn't do anything wrong, in Canada. Elsewhere, who knows?

Because he's the pissed-off maniac the site deserves, but not the one it needs right now, `cause I have a headache. So we'll ignore him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a loudmouth, the angriest man in Eurasia. A dark Strel.

    1. I'm not entirely sure I know what you're asking.

He was posting under your name, by the way.

    2. A dark Strel? That's unsettling to contemplate.

    3. Oh, shit. You mean you're the "good" guy?

    4. I posted that as a joke over the Kimmy issue (I was quoting that Nolan movie back there, so it's a callback gag...I guess.)

You know they love you when they spoof your account and spew gibberish....

    5. Comrade, we all love you. In a dark, twisted way.

    6. I thought "dark Strel" was an oxymoron.

    7. It's a redundant term.

"Pretty ugly" and "jumbo shrimp" are oxymorons. "Stupid snowflake" is a redundancy. "Snowflake" is just a plain moron.

  2. Goddammit. Can I take over "Shabba Doo"?

  3. I'd like to be the Queen of Lean Cuisine. Or Shabba Doo if Hiram doesn't take it first.

  4. A dark version of Strelnikov is, indeed, a disturbing prospect. The one we know and love (and/or hope never to meet in a dark alley) seems to have a range of moods, but I'm not sure I'd like to see a darker/more violent extension to that end of the scale.

Hiram and Kimmie -- I, for one, have too many positive associations with your current monikers to want to see them change.

    1. I really don't think Twitter is responsible for this, but you certainly may be right. And if that's the case, just think of me as an "autocratic bitch who's looking to stifle the truth."
