  1. I once wished a summer class a Happy Independence Day and had a flake ask how DARE I be so unpatriotic as to wish them a Happy 'foreign holiday' like Independence Day instead of the patriotic and All-American "4th of July"

  2. A young friend of ours who is now in Beijing reported this morning that her housemates wished her a happy independence day but just to be sure, asked her: wasn't this the day that George Washington helped Will Smith beat the aliens?

  3. It was a strange feeling to be in South Korea on July 4th. For some reason, Koreans treated it just like any other day!

    1. Different species (or perhaps subspecies?) of cannabis. Hemp can, of course, be burned, but apparently smoking it is less than satisfying.
