    1. And we're not even to the Ps (phoenix). If we didn't already have the duck as a sort of CM mascot (with the alpaca as a runner up -- though I think we ate it/them a while back), we'd have to choose the phoenix.

    1. And look - the background distracted me from proofreading my comment. I hope you're happy now.

  4. I see it's different, but I don't see anything wrong with it. Time for an Angry Reader's Mailbag.

  5. It was really weird late last night (somebody was fiddling, I assume -- and/or drunk), but it seems to have settled down. I don't think I much like the background, but isn't an axiom of CM that the layout/typeface/whatever is always ugly/lousy, at least according to some readers.

I did like seeing the duck flying over the masthead the last few days. Sorry to see he's gone (and hope he will return now and then).

    1. You deserve that chili pepper in the masthead.

  7. It looks lovely, really. Gray backgrounds are great; chili peppers on the masthead are great; whatever design shows up in the next hour (and 24 hours, and next week) is great.

    1. And mascots are just ducky. Post as many mascots as you want.

    2. And now I'm sounding like Silly, or maybe Sally, or maybe Silly. I really don't know.

  8. You know I feel about peppers. What kind of pepper is that, anyway? Could it be, perhaps, maybe, a chiltepin? yum.
