  1. How come Juan Leopoldo Ambriz was arrested on felony charges for this, but when students broke into Hanover High School to steal exams, parents mewled to have the misdemeanor charges changed to violations? Oh, right, Hanover High School is in the same town as Dartmouth College.

  2. Other than who the kids' parents are, one other fact (or set of facts) seems to differ between the two cases. Breaking into computer systems and altering data seems to attach penalties different from good-old-fashioned breaking into buildings/rooms/filing cabinets and stealing papers.
