Fun with Links to Old Posts

HEY Miserians! It's time for FLOP!

That's right, because I don't have time to create new content, I'm rehashing old stuff, but hopefully adding just enough to rekindle your interest. I figure if bands can do it with their "digitally remastered box sets with bonus tracks" then I can do it too, but unlike them, I'm not asking you to buy anything.

I start with the bonus. You've had some opportunity to get to know my colleagues Panquehue, Bryndza, Stilton, Feta, Wensleydale, and Limburger, but how well does your idea of them match the real-life counterparts? Let's see if your impression matches mine: use the comments section to rank them by seniority and by age, and indicate male or female. Read the whole collection (links below), or just enough to get your answers. I'll put up my answers in about a week from today.

Bonus bonus: The two posts involving Wensleydale borrowed from two poems you may have encountered. Name the poems.

Or, use the comments for whatever you want, whether it pertains to the "assignment" or not.

Now the boxed set:

  1. My first thought: Oh no, people are going to figure out OPH's real identity and workplace!

My second thought: No, everyone will recognize the Panquehues, Bryndzas, et al. in thier own departments. In fact, as I'm typing this I can think of two or three Wensleydales right off the bat, and will probably come up with more.

  2. I can't pronounce the names! But I know the characters are all familiar.

Also, is this the all time worst graphic? Meaning, the best?

    1. That's an ogre, Hiram, with the severe underbite worthy of a Habsburg.

  3. Well, shit, when I scheduled this post for the then future, I didn't know Ben would be doing his. Not that I had much hope that this would generate any response anyway, but I hate that it bumped his from the top.

    1. We ran Ben's post ahead of yours for 12 hours. After that we put it back where it was. Not to worry. We're not on vacation, man, we work 24/7, or usually 20/6, sometimes 13/3, but someone's always here!

    2. Thank you for that courtesy. And for the really shitty graphic.

I myself am "out in the office," as it is said. Internet is restricted to very select moments.

  4. "The Purpose of the Test" has been one of my absolute favorite posts on this site ever since it first appeared. My husband and I (U.S. citizens) live in a country (not the U.S.) where children learn bargaining and negotiation at their mother's knee, and he thought he'd seen it all from his students, but I truly think this post tops anything he's encountered personally. It still makes me laugh out loud.

  5. The DERP Annuls should be added to the great cannon of western literature. So that they next generation of proffies will have a fair chance to be exposed to them before making the fateful decision.

If they make it with eyes wide open they have no one else to blame.

  6. Friends, I am back from what I had hoped would be some quality time away from the internet. While away, I happened to check my email and discovered that somebody was poking his fingers into my business. I lost about a week of my life dealing with that matter remotely and then in person, none of which would have been necessary had he simply stayed the fuck out of my business.

I appreciate your complimentary comments here. I wasn't fishing for them, honestly; I was mainly concerned that we keep the page running and trying to do my part. But after the week of dealing with that shit, then the week of catching up on all the stuff I couldn't do while dealing with that other thing, your words were salve for a weary soul.
