Welcome to College Misery!

Out of the ashes of Rate Your Students comes a new academic blog, a home for the venting masses of modern proffies.

To become a group moderator, with full posting privileges, please email me and let me know that you want in. If you can tell me who you were on RYS as well, that will make it easier to put monikers to email addresses, etc. Or just start again fresh here. (Except Walter! If Walter wants in, he'll have to use his old name AND agree to steroid testing.)

This is sure to be messy over the first little while. At last count about 20 folks have already requested a login. I don't know how often folks will actually post, or what the resulting mess will look like, but let's find out together.

Turn your pals on to the site; seriously. Tell everyone you know, and let's make it an academic water cooler we can be proud of - even though at times we want to piss in that cooler. I've been in touch with Calico from RYS and he sends his best. His actual email said: "Who are you? Why are you writing me? Go fuck off. I'm watching The Tudors." But his message was clear!

  2. Shall we take bets to see how long this lasts before it explodes?

  3. How do you add monikers to email addresses? Won't it automagically assign our blogger name to our posts?

  4. Oh no! I am not even in academics and I was a huge fan of RYS! Good luck with the new digs and I expect to visit often.

  5. Just a bit of advice: get more people, because if this place gets as hopping as RYS you will be virtually buried in huge stacks of email.

    RIP, Rate Your Students (2005-2010)

  6. Why did RYS collapse? Was the site design really that bad?

Are we blaming Cash? The peyote? The remote location of the compound?

I don't know exactly what's to blame for the loss of RYS, but I wish this new page the best. I'll be reading it daily, because with RYS gone, I still feel the need to read SOMETHING daily. It beats work.

  10. I'm sad to see RYS go, but I am thankful that this vent is open for us to use and abuse - students and admins, that is.

    Let's rock!
