And Just When You Though the Job Market Couldn't Tumble Any Farther Downhill

Since the real MLA JIL doesn't have any jobs on it, I encourage all professors who are on the job market to search the postings at the MLA Jobs Tumblr--"putting the 'AACK!' in the tenure track," as the subtitle states.

I can see the real MLA getting upset by this kind of thing, but since the real MLA doesn't have any real jobs to advertise, and with each passing year serves less and less of a real purpose, I don't see why they would bother to cause any kind of a fuss.

  2. Quite brilliant. Certainly more fun than reading the actual list, which is depressing any way you look at it.

  3. Wow, there's a shout-out to my alma mater on there! Same department and everything! Wonder if it was written by someone who got burned on the last big search (conducted while I was there).

There is a tiny flicker of bright side to this year's job outlook, though, at least according to the Crampicle:

  4. I have it on good authority that the "Kansas State medical humanities" job listed is pretty close to the truth of the Univ. of Kansas job they failed last year. Indifferent to actual medical practice, focus on obscure things the med students wont be interested in, at all cost avoid hiring a doctor that you'd have to share with a clinical department even extremely part time.
