We Are Fascinated By Our Readers. We Love Knowing the Numbers, the Locations, The Kinds of Browsers. Sometimes Readers FREAK OUT When They Think We Are Outing Them By Showing a Globe With Some Fucking Pins In It. We Hope That's Not What Today Is Like.

  1. No love from Australia, eh? Typical.

  2. the apparent lack of hits from Australasia might have been due to time zone differences. Next time do a map of the hits in a 24-hour period, that would be so cool!

  3. We've added a second map from a few days ago that was recorded between 3-4 am Pacific time, so it does catch more of our international readers.

  5. That's super cool. I have my own blog, and it's always fun to see where readers are from.

  6. Very cool, indeed (and at a zoom level that should leave all but the most paranoid feeling safe).

I recently started moderating a blog (institutional, not personal), and it has, indeed, been interesting to see what information about readers is captured. It's definitely not enough to identify an individual (at least not without additional clues), but it's a good deal. That's another good reason to behave ourselves (as if we should need one beyond the fact that this page exists thanks to the efforts of volunteers, and it's not in our best interests to make their jobs unpleasant).

  9. I'm pretty sure I can see me, too -- or else a neighbor I haven't met yet. No Alaska love? Nothing from South America?
