Fred, this one's for you.

Fred (aka Teacher Misery),
This documentary was filmed somewhere down South, but it probably could have been shot anywhere in the U.S.
It might explain a few things about why we have The Misery.
Humbly yours,
Bubba

  1. They PRAY together before voting to insert intelligent design into the state standards?

    Jeebus H on a cracker!

(If you watch the rest of the video, they then move on to social studies where they explicitly insert a championing conservative interpretations of history, including downplaying the First Amendment as guaranteeing religious freedom!)

  2. One of my colleagues (with a PhD) was in the office the other day and a student came in because he was concerned about evolution. He then scoffed and said "Nobody BELIEVES that. It is JUST a theory, it isn't real." And s/he AGREED WITH HIM. And went on to say there was no data on evolution and that it was all based on surveys and hindsight bias. I was so angry I couldn't see straight. One of my other colleagues believes that she can prove evolution doesn't exist based on the TV show Survivor (and this is not a joke). Yes, a TV show that lasts 39 days can without a doubt prove once and for all that millions of years of adaptations and selection doesn't exist. I feel so all alone. At least I now know to stay out of Texas.

  4. Personally, I like it here in Texas. Watching the Texas Legislature is good sport, second only to football.
