No, but I'm sure that your insanity on the next iteration can be described with a TLA.
Hmm, TLA isn't in the CM search thingie, but DuckDuckGo suggests: The Last Airbender Tour de las Americas Temporal Logic of Actions Theatre Library AssociationAh! Three Letter AcronymNicely done, DrNathaniel
I think I can translate everything but EDC and MOE (assuming COR is "course of record." Also, I suspect that "MO" might equal "methods of"). And I'm very sorry that anyone can "demand niggling changes" to your course materials. For all that I do believe that assessment can serve useful purposes, that accreditation reviews are increasingly important (they may be our last best defense against fully corporatized education), and that coordination among instructors (note the "among," which implies horizontal, not hierarchical, interaction) is sometimes necessary, that sounds like a violation of academic freedom. Also, any institution of higher learning that provides a CMS should also provide an automatic backup system, and good tech support, so this won't happen. Sorry; no alternative meanings (at least not coherent and/or amusing ones) spring to mind at the moment.
Sigh. Not only did the CMS not provide an automatic backup system, the supposed tech support messed with one of my other CORs in a misinformed attempt to reinstate the one in question. As Alan and Miss N. Thrope so aptly noted, the correct response at that point was FML.As for the "niggling changes", I too support regular upkeep and coordination among instructors. But when the style guide changes IN MID-CYCLE so that topics must have numbers -- no, wait, dashes -- and end in a period -- no, wait, they're not sentences -- while objectives CAN'T have dashes and MUST be numbered AND should be in reverse order of Bloomsbury's Taxing Ostomy, well, where did I put that sherry?
IMO, the appropriate TLA is FML. However, I have an undying hatred and distrust for all network-accessed management systems, and do my best to keep my own copies. But that's not what you asked about. I think the problem you are facing is that the Corrupt Management Society deleted your Carefully Orchestrated Reinfestations, on which the Elder Deacons of Cthulu had demanded niggling changes to your Seriously Lousy Obfuscations and Mediocre Outrage Expressions for better alignment with content. Now, Cthulu will be making demands that you can't even begin to meet. And the result is as at the beginning.
Oh, and I do keep my own copies, and emailed one as an attachment, but the Elder Deacons of Cthulu (Dog, I love that) couldn't deal with it not being In the System.
Yeah, currently we too are working on the GEC and the peeps in the COE want our SLOs and GLGs clearly tied to the MOEs listed on the syllabus.
I think we're in the same discipline, so you'll appreciate that the Elder Deacons of Cthulu couldn't get that "radiometric dating" in the topics was not already tied to an assignment involving "radiocarbon dating" in the MOEs. I raised this with one of the Deacons who said, "You have to remember, we're not content experts." Okay, but are you literate?
I meant, "was already tied". Where's that sherry?
A good, all purpose FML should cover this...
@RGM: All this Cyrillic is very cool. I guess Strelnikov's finally taken over the compound?
