Fly Away, Fab, You Fucking Bastard.

Fab leaves today for **THREE WEEKS** in New Zealand. Fuck him. I hope he gets dengue fever, or whatever passes for dengue fever in New Zealand.

I'll be doing my best to kill the page in his absence.

  1. I leave TOMORROW for 15 days, you whiny drama queen. You start work today because I need to pack my hair dryer - something you wouldn't know about.

    XOXO Fabby

    1. Details are just lies in a fancy package, Fab. 15 days, three weeks, you're still abandoning the post.

But I'm here to tell you I'm going to run it like you do now, by not doing anything. Let the universe take it over. I didn't mention it, but I'm going to be moving across country during your month long stay in New Zealand. I have no intention whatsoever of doing anything but checking to make sure I have gas in my car and gluten free cookies.

I won't look at the internet, except to see if Heidi Klum has responded to any of my twits on the Tweeter, because I'm getting into that big time.

I'm going to friend or find or whatever you do that Beaker Ben guy and we're going to be friends like modern people: no contact; shouting at each other across the ether.

This page? Well, I'll likely change the background when I get where I'm going. And of course I'll post a bunch of my songs and poems. I mean, unless I get a head's up from Heidi or Ben. Then I'm just going to "hang out" online with them.

Enjoy your five weeks in that forested and snake-filled bug factory.

    4. Don't get too excited. My social media experiments usually last 36 hours.

  2. I will have you know that I'm going to Columbus for a wedding and Pittsburgh, just because. Chew on that!

  3. And I'm going to a workshop on a campus in pretty much the middle of nowhere (at least by East-coast standards). It looks pretty, though, and the workshop should be fun/interesting.

And then I'm coming back and tethering myself to my laptop (otherwise known as teaching an online class) for almost 2 months. But I might be able to tear myself away to visit the apartment-complex pool now and then (no, I don't try to teach poolside. There's no wifi, and there *is* glare, and splashing, and, despite what the member of my department who does the scheduling -- but who has not, I believe, taught online -- suggested at the last department meeting, it just doesn't work that way).

Have fun, Fab! CM 3.0 (4.0?) -- the all-music/all-vidshizzle version, with occasional breaks for poetry -- should be well established by the time you get back. In fact, it will probably go viral (thus completely ruining the plan to kill the page).

  4. In the same way coup d'etats occur when a head of state goes out-of-country for an international summit, Fab's absence might present an opportunity for the Alpaca sympathizers to seize their chance, rise up, and supplant The Duck aficionados. Much power and influence derives from being closely associated with The CM Mascot, and some may resent that, and wish to change the pecking order in their favor. Be vigilant.

    1. Maybe Fab will bring us back a new mascot/addition to the compound livestock. Aren't wombats indigenous down under?

    2. I would not associate TOO closely with the mascot, you know what I'm saying?

    3. Ask Frod about that situation. His students might have some insight.

  5. You've got a car? Sweet. There's not much to do in Oilmont without a car.

Hey Fab, bring us back a CM-themed hobbit. I think they have lots of them down there, all unemployed after those movies finished. It's a sad state of affairs, I've heard.

  6. There's not much to do in Oilmont WITH a car. Except leave.

    2. And, as mentioned above, mine starts in 9 days (and I need to do some prep work starting Monday). But who's counting?

Hope you get a break after you put in your 3 more weeks. They can seem very long at this time of year.

  9. Thanks. You who (have to?) teach in summer make me grateful for my job.
