Dear students,
Today I awoke with a blinding, throbbing headache around my right eye. I get them every once in a while, and while I know a quiet day in a dark room is just what the doctor ordered, I have to come in to engage your surly faces in edutainment for the day. But one request.
While I know that fun! brightly colored pants are in style this fall, and that you have both the money and inclination to be fashionable, if you are wearing the electric blue ones, please don't sit next to the girl in the fluorescent green ones. Let's spread it out, people. Or Dr. Amelia may have to be surly right along with you.
- Amelia from Abilene
I hope you get well soon!
ReplyDeleteThat said, I'm in no position to criticize student attire. Absolutely anything is better than those tight white pants and bikini underwear on GUYS that were fashionable when I was an undergrad in the '70s. Jeez, even now, thinking about them makes me nauseous.
So sorry about your migraine! I am always happy when they are at least clothed and their boobies aren't falling into my face.
ReplyDeleteHaving committed my own egregious neon fashion sins in the 1980s, I feel ill equipped to judge the colors today. :o)
DeleteOh, dear. I hope you feel better soon. You can just go/stay home, you know. You really can. Give them an alternative online assignment from the relatively painful-stimulus-free safety of home (adjusting your monitor as/if necessary), and recuperate. Or just deal with catching up when you feel better.
ReplyDeleteLike Cynic, I prefer colorful pants to extremely low necklines (if nothing else, more is hidden behind/below the desk), but this does seem like a special case.
I prefer brightly colored pants to low-slung jeans partnered with thongs. That is not an image I care to have stuck in my brain.
