    1. And what is it that you do for the page?

  2. As other have mentioned, taking time off in the summer can be risky even for tenured, as that's when some seriously poor policies (deliberately?) get brought up. For this reason, I miss CM during its breaks. It's always the non-teaching side of things that affects how well I sleep.

However, the RGM surely deserves some time off, and the summer, well, heck, it's the summer.

One would need to be an utter philistine to not appreciate the need for a break now and again.

My post. I was wondering if the page was on hiatus.

    1. It is, unless it isn't. For me, I want CM during the summer but I need it during the fall and spring.

  4. There's no hiatus. There isn't enough work for me to take a break from it. As I've noted a couple of times, when stuff comes in I'll put it up. It's entirely up to the readers. Even the old flashbacks are almost always sent in by someone...Cal mostly. I like that the site is here and happy to do whatever to make sure stuff that comes in gets up okay and that the occasional spam gets taken care of. Enjoy.

  5. Nobody ever understands the hiatus who hasn't run the page.

    1. Yes, it's so hard. You've all told us like a zillion times. Poor you.

  6. As usual, Crystal's approach seems to me to be working. If enough of us are online and stressing about summer teaching (or, as EC1 points out, administrative sneakiness), there will be presumably be new posts, or at least conversation on old ones. If no one is sending in posts/posting comments, there will be a hiatus.

And if Crystal decides at some point to check the submission box less often than once a day (or whatever the current interval is), that's up to her.

As usual, the obvious solution for anyone who thinks the page needs some new material is to send some in (and then exercise a modicum of patience, knowing it will appear in good time).

    1. I hope to finish a post sometime tomorrow. If it passes review, then it will appear when Crystal feels like making it so. That's quite good enough for me.

    2. Well, apparently, hope itself isn't enough to create new reality. The post will have to wait yet a few more days.
