Cry Me a River (of Flakes)
Angry Archie & Compound Cal

You took my class
You thought you would pass
You didn’t know I checked the footnotes, no
So you took a chance
Cut n’ paste was your plan
You didn’t think it'd all come crashing down, no

You don’t have to say what you did
I already know
It’s right there online
Now there is no chance you’ll get a D
It’ll never be
And don’t it make you sad about it

You told me you loved my class
Why did you cheat to try to pass
Now you say that you need a break
Or else you won’t graduate

Flake I refuse
You must have me confused
With some other guy
You plagiarized
Now it’s your turn to cry

Cry me a river

You know how they say some things
are better left unread (like your paper)
But it wasn’t like you just paraphrased, and you know it
Now all of your whining
It makes an aching in my head
You should have used turnitin.com and you might not have flunked it

You don’t have to say what you did
I already know
It’s right there online
Now there is no chance you’ll get a D
It’ll never be
And don’t it make you sad about it

You told me you loved my class
Why did you cheat to try to pass
You say that you need a break
Baby, you won’t graduate

Flake I refuse
You must have me confused
With some other guy
You plagiarized
Now it’s your turn to cry

Cry me a river

Oh, oh, the damage is done
I guess you’ll be flunking

You don’t have to say what you did
I already found it
after class
Your only real mistake, I'm feeling ya,
But Wikipedia
couldn't save your ass

You told me you loved my class
Why did you cheat to try to pass
Now you say that you need a break
Baby, you won’t graduate

Flake I refuse
You must have me confused
With some other guy
You plagiarized
Now it’s your turn to cry

Cry me a river

Based on the Timbaland / Timberlake / Storch mix of Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River," this is a ready-for-college version constructed by Angry Archie and Compound Cal for CollegeMisery.com

  1. hyacinths are red,
    violets are not,
    if there's a better version,
    heard it, I've not.

  3. This is indeed truly brilliant! I've watched it twice. Thank you so much to Archie and Cal for another great collaboration. What's next?

  4. This saves me countless hours of writing notes to plagiarists. I'm just sending them a link to this song instead. So amazing!

  5. Do vidshizzles get nominated for Grammys or Oscars? Or both! I love you guys...and Cal's voice.

    Love the turnitin.com shoutout!

  7. I am not familiar with the Timberlake original.
But seriously: do you want groupies? I would so totally do --or be done by-- both of you.

    Brilliant!

    1. For God's sake don't offer. Cal makes a vidshizzle of everything he does!

  8. Wonderful all the way through, but I particularly like the "feeling ya"/"Wikipedia" rhyme -- a brilliant juxtaposition with interesting generational associations. And the idea that 'flakes eventually melt into a river of tears works nicely, especially if the tears are theirs, not ours -- not that I want anybody to be crying, but better them than me. The "you told me you loved my class" refrain is heartbreaking, though. Do they realize that one cheating suckup saying that can color the way we hear it from sincerely enthusiastic students for years to come?

  9. Thank you, thank you. This makes my day. Am tempted to link to this instead of the NESFB.edu* plagiarism policy on the class website ...

  11. "You know how they say some things
are better left unread. . ."

Beautiful parody! I want the album (and don't forget to include that poignant Brady Bunch theme).

Seriously, how does one download the audio file from this?

  12. The video adds layers and more layers! And kudos on that fine guitar work.

  13. This is great! Maybe if there's ever a sequel to Bad Teacher you guys could back up Monsieur Timberlake himself....
