We Are Alive.

This is the "Real" Gordon Presto, aka Terry P., aka the "duck" guy. I was once a mod, in between one of the times Fab ran it and Leslie K started to run it, during the period where everyone was RGM, but before Hiram and Strelnikov's coup.

The page is active once again. You may send your angst (or ennui, we value both) to the email link over their in the sidebar. Or it's just collegemisery@gmail.com.

Because Cal is a cheap motherfucker, he let the collegemisery.com domain go and now it's for sale for $1495?!?!? No shit.

Click here to buy CollegeMisery.com for $1,495. But why would you?

Anyway, the new site is called thecollegemisery.com, because, baby, that's what it was meant to be. Of course you can always come in through the back door at collegemisery.blogspot.com.

I don't know what's going to happen. I'm so drunk I may be posting this on my wife's greenhouse blog. But I checked with the past RYS and CM principals and they all said, "Go ahead," although Walt said "Go fuck yourself, you bald, backwards, University of Missouri-grad wanna be."

Is anyone still around?

The Real Gordon Presto

The RGM

PS: I've contacted a number of past friends of RYS and CM, and tried to send out some invites as well for people to take their rightful places. But I confess I have a new Mac and the ridiculously complicated city-to-city proxy Cal originally set up for anonymity of correspondents and mods is just not being deciphered by new shiny box. (Although I can watch Netflix like a mother on it, even when I'm driving!)

Anyway, let's just see what happens. Maybe nobody wants me. Maybe my mama was right. But we'll open the page up a bit and see how it runs.

  1. I never ran anything.

Good to see the site back.

  2. Oh hi. How long has it been anyway? A week? A year? I am glad to see it back again. I am teaching a 1-credit course this semester, so I can truly share the misery. Not that I expect to be one of the cool kids, but maybe there will be some helpful advice for a first-timer on this site.

  5. Oh this made my day! Thank you. Thank you. The misery shared is the misery conquered. Sort of.

  6. Well done, Gordon. Like many of you, I got Beaker Ben's note last week about him looking for someone to pick up the torch, and I'm thankful someone has. I worry that the slow decrease of readers from RYS to CM to Academic Water might mean this little trip of ours is shorter rather than longer. But I'm a pessimist anyway!

I do hope it remains alive in some form, here or elsewhere. It's a great thing all on its own, and there have been so many extravagantly beautiful voices on these pages since 2006!

  7. Well, whaddaya know! I really should check Cassandra's email more than once every six months! (Good thing CM is still in my blogger feed, and I checked that). Many thanks to Gordon (and to Ben, for keeping some semblance of the community going over at the other place). I'm signed up, and will endeavor to contribute soon (I actually had a couple of things in mind to send to Ben, but didn't quite get around to it -- which is, of course, the problem).

  8. Late to the party, but I'm back, too, and grateful as hell. I'm teaching a gigantic-ass overload this term, so I won't be contributing much... but I'll try to save stuff up to post in the spring.

Assuming we can keep this going that long. (I'm a pessimist, too. That damn glass isn't even half-full, and it's cheap whiskey.)

  9. Since CM died and rose reborn, I have made the switch from teaching to admin. I still teach, but there is so much more misery now!! Can't wait to start the stream of bitch.

    1. That should be enlightening. I always enjoyed Susie's posts from the admin perspective (though I'm not sure she ever really fully embraced the admin perspective, which is a good thing. Glad you're still teaching, too; we need admins. who keep in touch with the teaching side of things.)

  10. YAY! You're back, and many of the old gang, too! How I've missed you. So many days I've read things and thought, "Oh, I wish I could post this on College Misery."
Now my life will be a little brighter, I'll shed pounds, and my car will run perfectly.

  11. Glad to see everybody is back! I'll be joining you as soon as I shed this AWC skin. And have some coffee.

Let me be first to say that the page's font sucks.

And DAMN it's good to be back! Is the water cooler still filled with bourbon?

    2. It's empty. *hickup*. I'm not sure how that happened.

    1. Hi. Can you use the name/URL login with some cool made up name so we know who you are? URL can be blank. Thanks.
